ARVADA, Colo. (September 18, 2024) – Colorado Gives Foundation granted $5.7 million to 184 nonprofits to help communities in Jefferson County (Jeffco) thrive.

This $5.7 million funding opportunity is the largest that the community foundation has ever made available to nonprofits serving Jeffco. The Foundation initially planned to award about $4 million, however, over $8 million in requests came in indicating tremendous need. Recognizing the need, the Foundation found a way to do more and provide an additional $1.7 million in funding.

“The work our partners are doing in Jeffco aligns seamlessly with our impact areas of Collective Wellbeing, Economic Freedom and Vibrant Communities,” said the Foundation’s community impact vice president savinay nathan. “Together, we are working to ensure all of Jeffco is thriving. It’s inspiring to support the nonprofits and their teams who are feeding our families, helping with access to health, reducing loneliness and depression, advocating for affordable housing and child care, and training our neighbors so they can get good jobs.”

“Our grant investment is truly about creating opportunities to help our neighbors stabilize life during tough times,” said savinay. “Thriving depends on our surroundings and on our networks, so we want to support efforts that enhance quality of life for everyone in Jefferson County,” he added.

$5,701,387 was awarded Sept. 17, 2024 across six focus areas.

Food Security – 42 organizations, $1,157,228
Housing – 22 organizations, $838,000
Early Care and Education – 14 organizations, $345,500
Workforce Development – 56 organizations, $1,222,222

About Colorado Gives Foundation

Colorado Gives Foundation is a community foundation (a 501(c)(3) public charity) dedicated to improving the lives of people in Jefferson County. We also work statewide to help donors, whether they are individuals, organizations or businesses, with giving accounts that fulfill their charitable interests. In addition, we support nonprofits serving Jefferson County through philanthropy tools including grantmaking to ensure that all of Jefferson County is thriving. Unlike other community foundations, we also run a year-round online giving platform – ColoradoGives.org – that connects donors to nonprofits across the state of Colorado, and powers a giving day every December called Colorado Gives Day. Our work is rooted in attentive listening and a firm commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Colorado Gives Foundation is where donors find and discover the community impact that matters most to them, which is good for everyone.
