A brighter future for young children and their families in Jefferson County (Jeffco) is on the horizon. We are proud to support 38 local initiatives focused on enhancing early childhood care and education in the county and are awarding $1,668,000 in grants to nonprofits supporting Jeffco.

“Each of these grantees plays a critical role in building brighter futures for Jeffco’s children and families,” said Nazia Hasan, director of community impact for Colorado Gives Foundation. “Their efforts are making it easier for families to access affordable, high-quality early learning opportunities, while also strengthening the workforce that provides this vital care.”

This grant funding supports partners who are working to implement The Bright Futures Roadmap, increase availability of child care options, and bring together community to support access to quality early care and education in Jeffco. Here’s a look at how some of these grants will make a difference across the county:

  • The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless will use funding to expand mental health resources for the 125 children and families they serve annually, including outreach programs by a full-time therapist to support The Renaissance Children’s Center.
  • BeyondHome will enhance support for some of Jeffco’s most vulnerable families, including single parents and homeless youth, by offering early care enrichment, family coaching, and wellness services.
  • Nebula Early Childhood Collaborative Inc. will use its grant to aid early childhood educators and families, focusing on initiatives that prevent child abuse and promote thriving communities.
  • Firefly Autism is expanding access to early education for children on the autism spectrum to help them and their families succeed.
  • 40 West Arts will bring creativity to young minds with free summer camps and expanded artistic programming, supporting the historic West Colfax Corridor.
  • Invest in Kids plans to strengthen the early childhood workforce in Jeffco by implementing three proven programs aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of children and families.
  • Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition (CSPC) will launch a pilot program to train parents of children with disabilities as community navigators, empowering families with knowledge and resources.

“Investing in young children builds stronger communities for the future,” said savinay nathan, community impact vice president at Colorado Gives Foundation. “When families have access to early education and the resources to pursue meaningful career paths, they gain stability and the chance to build lasting economic success.” Early care and education are key to achieving economic freedom and lasting impact because they foster stability and generational wealth, he added.

The funding complements other initiatives supported by Colorado Gives Foundation to provide our neighbors the resources and opportunities they need to pursue career-based education that aligns with their goals and aspirations to make intentional life and work choices.
