What is the Job?

The Grants Manager is responsible for implementing and monitoring the grants management process for the Foundation, including grants from donor advised funds (DAFs), discretionary grants from Community Impact and any other funds. This role ensures a smooth, efficient process that complies with all Foundation and IRS policies. This role also provides exemplary customer service to donors, nonprofits and Foundation staff, helping them achieve positive community impact.

To succeed, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or 3+ years of relevant experience in project management, grants management or related field
  • Solid project management skills, particularly with complex improvement projects that require organization and attention to detail
  • Self-reliant, results-oriented and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, collaborate and develop consensus with staff and colleagues
  • A thorough understanding of all current and emerging regulations governing grantmaking, including distributions from DAFs and other funds
  • An innovative mind, with a record of accomplishment in problem-solving and developing action plans, and creating impact
  • The ability to use data and information in grant reports to measure progress toward goals
  • The ability to understand current and emerging trends in philanthropy and grants management

Your essential duties and responsibilities as the Grants Manager will include:

Implement and ensure an effective grants management process

  • Monitor, recommend and implement improvements, as necessary, to the grants management process for all grants from DAFs, Community Impact and any other funds using feedback from all stakeholders
  • Maintain and recommend modifications to the grants management software system
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Foundation policies, IRS, legal and audit regulations, and best practices related to grant management 
  • Work closely with Community Impact Team and, as necessary, customize grant application processes to meet the intended outcomes of all grant programs
  • Ensure we accurately capture evaluation data on grant reports to show progress toward stated goals

Support donors, nonprofits and the foundation

  • Provide exceptional service to other employees, donors and nonprofit partners
  • Assist Community Impact team in developing forecasts
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring all grant schedules
  • Provide technical assistance on the application and reporting process to grant applicants/recipients
  • Tracks timely and consistent grantee reporting
  • Serve as a member of the core process team, ensuring efficient processes in support of our strategy
