Hi [Donor Name],

You’ve supported us throughout the year, and because of your generosity, [specific impact statement; e.g., “more families can access food throughout the year” or “more kids have a safe place to learn”]. That kind of steady support is critical, and starting today through Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 8, there’s a way to make your generosity go even further.

Every gift made now through Dec. 8 is boosted by a $1M+ Incentive Fund. That’s why Colorado Gives Day is a perfect moment to consider an additional gift, above and beyond what you’ve already so generously given this year.

Monthly giving gets an extra boost right now, too. Colorado Gives Foundation will match the first $100 of any new monthly gift you set up during this time, as part of a $250K matching pool across all participating nonprofits. The sooner you start, the better your chances of getting the match!

Here’s how you can support us for Colorado Gives Day:

  1. Visit [Your ColoradoGives.org donation page URL].
  2. Click “Donate” and choose a one-time or monthly gift.
  3. Select “Continue to checkout” then you’re done, and it’s time to celebrate!

Thank you for supporting our work all year long. We hope you’ll consider an additional gift during Colorado Gives Day as one more way to support [specific impact statement] — and be part of the wave of generosity happening across Colorado.

With gratitude,

Wave of Generosity

The Wave of Generosity is a social media movement that allows you to raise awareness about your mission while also generating momentum for Colorado Gives Day. By creating a short video and inviting others to join, you can help spread the spirit of giving while showcasing the impact of your organization. The more nonprofits that participate, the bigger the wave grows!

How to Join the Wave

  1. Gather your team. Grab 3+ people and get ready to make some waves! The more, the merrier.
  2. Record your wave. Record a quick vertical video of your group doing “the wave.” Go classic sports-style, high-fives, hand-holding or create your own version. Get creative and make it unique!
  3. Tag others to keep the wave going. This is what helps the Wave of Generosity grow! In your caption, tag at least one other business, nonprofit or team, friends or family members and challenge them to make their own video. The more people you invite, the farther the wave travels.
  4. Tag us and use the hashtags. When you post:
    • Tag us on Instagram: @ColoradoGivesFoundation
    • Tag us on Facebook: /ColoradoGivesFoundationOrg
    • Use #WaveofGenerosity and #ColoradoGivesDay

“Segmenting” means sorting your donors into groups so you can send each group a message that fits them — for example, first-time donors vs. repeat donors, or people who gave during Colorado Gives Day vs. people who gave at other times.

Your ColoradoGives.org reports give you the donor list. Excel is where you sort and organize it.

Step 1: Pull your donation list

  1. Log in to your Dashboard.
  2. Click Reports, then Donations.
  3. Use the dropdown menu to pick the dates you want to look at.
  4. If you only want certain gifts, use the Campaign Type or Donation Type filters.

Step 2: Download it
Click to download the report as an Excel file. This gives you a spreadsheet with one row per donation.

Step 3: Sort your donors into groups in Excel
Now you can sort or filter the spreadsheet by whatever matters to you: gift amount, gift date, which campaign the gift came from, and so on. Each group you create is a “segment.”

Want more than one year of data?
Each report can only show 12 months at a time. You have two options:

  • Download one report per year and paste them together in a single spreadsheet, or
  • Use the Retention Report, which shows you which donors gave in more than one year. This is the fastest way to find your repeat donors and your lapsed donors.
